Jaigarh Fort - Documentation and Condition Assessment of Large underground Tanka

In continuation of our ongoing collaboration with the Jaigarh Public Charitable Trust, the CHC team carried out a comprehensive documentation followed by a preliminary condition mapping of the large tanka (water tank) at Jaigarh Fort in June 2024. Using the measured drawing technique, the team performed a geometric survey supported by photo documentation, to create accurate drawings that are intended to facilitate detailed condition assessment and arrive at appropriate repair measures for the_ tanka.

The condition mapping involved the identification of the material and construction system of the tanka and areas in need of repair intervention, along with the collection of material samples for laboratory testing.

The overall intent of this process is to contribute towards the revival of the historic water system with its meticulously planned network of water collection channels, storage tanks and distribution networks.
